RESOURCE CONTENTS*60 Task Cards with Photos - Zoomed in realistic photos of a variety of nouns emphasizing Texture. There are four questions children answer by drawing on past knowledge and making connections of the highlighted picture. *Picture List - For referencing (picture identification). *60 Stand-alone Photos - All photos without the questions. I included these as they are a great way to extend children learning in other areas (some examples below). As children develop they learn to make connections by drawing on previously learned knowledge. This resource requires the child to draw conclusions by using a zoomed in photo of a textured noun and building on already acquired knowledge. For example Task Card #3 is a photo of paint, children may say it is gooey and depending on previous experiences with painting may also say it is paint. It is important that they make sound conclusions but not necessarily recognize the photos true identity, for example another child may say its yogurt, as it’s gooey and could very well be blueberry yogurt. These Task Cards are also fantastic for drawing connections between the noun and adjective relationship. The task cards can be used at work stations with answers written in books or on sheets of paper. They are also fantastic for developing oral language in children, either as a class group or individually. Task Cards are also great used in Special Education and differentiated on student ability. The stand-alone photos can be used in a multiple of ways, for example children can sort them into living and non-living, by colours, texture etc. Once these Task Cards are printed and laminated they become a fantastic teacher resource which can be used repeatedly over the year (and even subsequent years).
